You’ve probably been to a music festival at least once, and had a pretty good time, but who wouldn’t? The warm, sunny days spent relaxing with friends in a field listening to great bands, and then the fun filled nights spent drinking and exploring what’s going on; there are no worries and no problems, all you have to care about is when your favourite band starts playing! But did you ever consider just how much work goes into the preparation of a festival?

Thanks to those who build the festivals, you can experience moments like this!

Of course there are the obvious aspects like the setting up of the stages, the sound systems and, of course, the excessively pricey (yet always busy) burger vans. The putting up of a large stage can take almost 1000 man hours in itself, so you can imagine the vast amounts of work that go into making the event a success. The crew are there days before the festival-goers are near, building all the necessary structures and making the infrastructure that keeps the festival going.

Medical buildings, box offices and other such structures all need to be constructed quickly and able to withstand many thousands of visitors, while still being reasonably priced and easy to transport. There’s no point lugging a huge, readymade building around when there are alternatives, as one event co-ordinator explains: “A lot of people don’t consider using modular structures. Finding modular buildings for hire isn’t too hard, especially when there are companies out there like Wernick, who supply buildings ideal for this purpose. It helps to free up workers to take on the really big challenges like the main stage!”

One aspect that you probably don’t want to think about is concerning toilets. Yes, there are many of them, and yes, they aren’t always clean; but someone has had to lug them all there, set them up, and take care of them! With the thousands of people at festivals you can see why this in itself is a massive undertaking, and a thankless one at that.

So, next time you are laying in a festival field in the beautiful sunshine, drinking your favourite drink and relaxing – spare a thought for those who spent the last few days toiling to get it all perfect for you!

To make sure you enjoy yourself this summer, have a look at these top tips. But most important of all – have fun!

Ultra Music Festival USA - Love House Music

House music has continued to remain extremely popular both in the clubs and in the mainstream pop scene. Artists from all over the world incorporate elements of house in their songs, and many DJs are making a name for themselves by producing house tracks under their own name. Today, there are many subgenres of house, but they all can be traced back to their roots in the early 1980s.Before house music began dominating the clubs, disco was played prominently in clubs throughout the United States. Thus, house music displayed some characteristics similar to disco, but was more repetitive in nature with an emphasis on minimal electronic bass rhythms. It was initially popularized in Chicago clubs, but quickly spread across the US to cities such as Los Angeles and New York and then out across to Europe, reaching London and Paris by the 1990s.

House Music – All Night Long

Largely remaining mostly an underground scene in small clubs, house music began to immerge into the mainstream with Madonna’s hit single “Vogue” in 1990. This opened the door for many other pop singers to follow with their own singles infusing house music elements into their songs. Meanwhile, in Europe, DJs and producers began experimenting with the genre and boosting the appeal by releasing house music records, hosting house and rave events. Ibiza was also beginning to develop a new style, a Balearic mix of house. House music was beginning to become more sophisticated, evolving beyond simple drum loops and short samples. Towards the end of the 1990s, French producers began producing a new sound out of Paris’s house scene that would lay the groundwork for practically all house music to follow.

By the 2000s, DJs and producers began to fuse many other genres with house, creating a variety of new subgenres. However, they all still share many of the core elements that have persisted since the early days of Chicago house, notably the kick drum on every beat, the off-beat hi-hat and samples added to the foundation of the beat. Many promoters of large music events began to shift their main stages to include more house acts, with many of the performing DJs sharing international fame. You can get great house music recods from online Vinyl Shops that wil cater for all your dance music needs.

One of the coolest things about Apple’s iPhone is that you can customize it with fun yet protective covers and cases keeping your cool hip phone dry at the dubstep rave. These items can show off quite a lot about your personality, especially when you select those that are music related and depict a musical artist or band you love. Some of the most wicked iPhone music covers are those that boast and elaborate and funky design and feature great bands that are known for their vast talent. These are all affordable and designed to protect your phone.

Fanpac's KISS DestroyerFanpac's KISS Destroyer

• An awesome choice of music cover for the iPhone is Fanpac’s KISS Destroyer cover. It features the image found on one of the band’s most popular and best selling album of all time, with the logo decked out in gold and silver and the members in their full costumes and makeup, posing in front of it. This cover fits the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, is slim and made with PC plastic that gives good protection to your device. Due to the great design of the cover, you can easily dock and charge your iPhone even when it is on.

• Red Bubble offers plenty of great music covers for the iPhone. A great choice for diehard fans of The Beatles is the Rubber Soul cover that was designed by Lynn Lamour. It is ultra thing, protective and features a black and white drawing of the Fab Four against a great aqua background with clouds just behind them. The case is made of a durable plastic.

• Art Fire offers a gorgeous Bob Marley cover that fits the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S for a very reasonable price. It is made from a durable hard plastic enamel that is meant to not only beautifully decorate but protect your smartphone. The cover features a brown background that gives off the illusion of wood with Bob Marley’s face over a flaming heart with black leaves throughout.

• Another great music cover for the iPhone from Art Fire is the flaming Metallica skull design. The band’s logo appears in the middle in red, and the background is matte black. The item is made from hard plastic and is impact resistant to thoroughly protect your phone.

• Red Bubble has a beautiful Evanescence cover that features artwork from the band’s latest and self-titled album. It is designed by LittleMermaid87 and features swirling colors in purple, blue, green and aqua with the logo in black in the center.

Over the last few years, there has been a massive rise in the number of festivals taking place throughout the UK and Europe, with literally thousands of events scrambling to pander to every taste. From folk to poetry, metal to trance, crafts to ale, it seems that with each new week comes a new festival.

This rise has led a number of people to try their hand at organising their own festivals, fed up with the huge corporate events like Glastonbury and Leeds/Reading and wanting to put something back into their community, thousands of people have picked up the gauntlet and tried to put their home towns on the map. If this sounds like something you would like to do, you should think about the following first.

Money

Before you even attempt to organise anything you need to consider how much it’s going to cost you and whether you can afford to foot the bill if things go wrong. Will you be selling tickets, asking for a donation or letting people in totally free? If you’re booking artists, how much will they cost? You need to do a bit of research – Toilet Hire, marquees, equipment, stages and some sort of catering are all a must regardless of how low-key your festival might be.

Audience

Is there a big enough audience in your local area and if not is the event good enough to draw people from out of town?

Niche

Try and establish something that’s unique. The festival market is so saturated at the moment that it’s near impossible to differentiate between them. What can you offer that others aren’t already?

Space

Where are you going to put it, will you need permission from the local authorities, and how much will it cost you?

Legalities

If you’re planning on selling alcohol at your festival then you will need an alcohol license. Likewise, if you’re planning on charging people to attend you will need a temporary events license. You will also need to sort out some sort of public liability insurance and security and ensure that you comply with health and safety regulations.

There is much, much more to consider, but these are some of the basics. If you’re really determined and prepared to put in a lot of time and hard work, do your research properly and ensure that you are offering something unique then within time your festival could grow organically into a successful, money generating event.

Since its inception in the year 2000, Wakestock has risen to become a spectacle of grand proportions and the upcoming 2011 Wakestock taking place between July 6th and July 10th looks to be the best yet. Founded by Mark Durston initially, Wakestock was first held at Abersoch in Northern Wales. At that time the festival consisted of a much smaller scale wakeboard contest witnessed by a few hundred people. Now in its second decade of existence, Wakestock has swelled in both size and merit, recently becoming a part of the World Wakeboard Series, and things could not look brighter.
The entire festival, now held at Cardigan Bay, has blossomed into a full fledged extravaganza. Now industry leading bands and DJs bring all the star appeal one could ask for to the stage at Wakestock. Famous artists such as Dirty Pretty Things, The Streets, N*E*R*D, Pretty Lights and Moby have all played Wakestock in the past, and 2011 will headline a host of new talent.
This year?s line-up includes over sixty five bands already, with a promise of more still to be announced. Featuring Billy Clyro, The Wombats, The Cribs and Ellie Goulding the concert at Wakestock 2011 promises to be a truly mind melting experience.
If things do start to overheat in your noggin though, cool down by watching some world class wakeboarding. A massive pool jump manufactured next to the music stages will help to bring all the entertainment where you can easily spot it. While on Wakestock?s grounds you?ll have easy access to a variety of food stalls as well as several bars.
If you want to see the World Wakeboard Series though, you will have to leave the festival grounds and make your way to Pwllheli Marina. This is the site where most of the wakeboarding action will be held. Use of the festival shuttles makes this trip easy and convenient and will only cost you £5. The pass you receive is good for the entire weekend.
Thursday is a practice day for the wakeboarders, and it presents a fantastic chance for fans to watch some of the riders while they are more at ease than they could be on a competition day. On Friday between 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm the pro qualifying events will be held, and on Saturday between 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm the pro finals.

Sunday is devoted to trick shows including the Mystic Big Air Competition from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and the Pool Gap Finals which start at 3:00 pm and last until 6:00 pm. These two events will be held at Abersoch Main Beach and on the festival grounds respectively.
The Wakestock festival is a vibrant celebration of music and sport that holds a valuable and growing place within the community, a community that can include you!

The 2011 iTunes Festival takes place in London during the month of July. The festival that began in 2007 with only seven acts will feature sixty-two artists this year and go for thirty-one days. Some acts include Paul Simon, Adele, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Beady Eye, My Chemical Romance and even Gwyneth Paltrow.

There will actually be two venues for performers this year: the main space, where all the big performers will be and studio sessions designed for up and coming performers. The studio sessions will also feature some spoken pieces.
If you want to go, the tickets will not cost you anything, but you have to apply to win them. It helps to be lucky since the tickets are being given away in daily drawings. Although the first week?s contests are closed, you can still apply to win tickets for the rest of the month.

The contest for the specific event closes 7 days prior to the event. While not officially for sale there are some advertised? Apparently, the tickets do have the winners name on them but no ID is required to enter into the venue.
The festival takes place in at the Round House in the Camden Town section of London. This is the third location for this event, but it has been there for the last three years so it is looking more and more like a permanent location. The Roundhouse, which was built in the 1840s, was originally used as a steam engine repair shed and has had other uses throughout the years. While it was used for performing arts since the 1960′s, it fell into disarray over the years and was last renovated in 2004.
If you cannot make it there, the show will be streaming live on iTunes. There is also an app available for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch if you prefer. In addition, those who own Apple TV can also stream it live. In addition to live performances, you will be able to purchase any of the acts for a limited period. This year for the first time, the events will be available in HD.
Tickets are very popular; last year there were over 3 million applications to win 60000 tickets. To win tickets you need to register at itunesfestival.com. Interested? Then check out itunesfestival.com for the latest updates. You can also find out when your favorite band is playing.

Are you looking for more information about the Glastonbury Festival? Have you considered attending this Festival but need more information about it to make your decision? This article will give you all the information that you need to make that decision. We will discuss what the festival is, the types of things you can see, the best way to enjoy your trip, as well as what the objectives of the festival are.

Introduction

There are many festivals held around the world, but the Glastonbury Festival is the biggest music and performing arts festival in the world. They have taken all of the best aspects of festivals and comprised them into an amazing package. It takes place in the Vale of Avalon (900 acres of it to be exact), which is said to be where King Arthur may be buried and where Joseph Arimathea has walked. Its an enormous tented city that is more than a mile and a half across and has a perimeter of eight and a half miles.

What It Has To Offer

The festival has something to offer for every individual. If you like to see huge events and night time cinemas, there are enough of these to keep you busy for your entire trip.
How To Get The Most Out Of Your Trip

If you have ever wanted to have a trip where you could say that was the best weekend of a life-time, then the Glastonbury Festival gives you the most opportunities to make that happen. The basic vibe of the festival is mellow and friendly. You will meet a diverse group of people here, which is a big part of the festival. You will meet people of all ages, nationalities, religions, backgrounds, and musical taste.

The best way to enjoy the festival is to just go with the flow and not revolve you day around a checklist of things to do or see. If you rush from one event to another just to stick to your schedule you will not enjoy the festival to its fullest. If you can’t get a good view of a certain show or you just aren’t enjoying it, just move on to the next field. It is often that your best memories will come from the events that you are not expecting.

Objectives of The Festival

Of course, making a profit is one of the objectives of the festival but it is not the main objective. The profits are used for many good purposes such as:improvements to the site; donations to Greenpeace, Oxfam, Water Aid, and other humanitarian causes. They also employ these organizations during the festival to help increase the amounts that these causes can raise.

The main objective of the festival is to encourage and stimulate youth culture from all around the world. It focuses on all forms from pop music, dance music, jazz, folk music, fringe theatre, drama, mime, circus, cinema, poetry, painting, sculpting, textile art, and all creative forms of art and design.

There is also areas of the festival which are dedicated to the Green Area and the marketplace. The Green Area is dedicated to alternative medicine, environmentally-friendly technologies, religion, social and moral issues, as well as a forum for debate. The marketplace provides a place for people to buy and enormous range of wares, hand-made goods, and quality prepared food.

In closing, I hope that I provided you with all the information that you needed about this amazing festival. If you are thinking of attending this enormous festival you won’t regret it. You could possibly have the best weekend of your life. Remember, if you want to get the most out of your experience to just go with the flow and see as much as you can. If you are not enjoying a show just move on, there is plenty more to see.
